Vegan condoms
Vegan condoms leave out casein, the milk protein used to soften most latex. Glyde and Moments state Vegan Society certification, while Jonny and Frenchie say vegan without naming a certifier.
Almost nobody expects a condom to contain a dairy product, which is exactly why this catches people out. Traditional latex manufacturing uses casein, a protein taken from milk, to help cure and soften the rubber. It never appears on the front of a box and there is no requirement to declare it, so a condom can look entirely plant based and quietly not be. Vegan ranges replace casein with a plant derived alternative.
Here is the part most lists skip. Vegan is not a regulated term, so who says it matters as much as what is said. Glyde and Moments both state certification by the Vegan Society, Glyde since 2006. Jonny and Frenchie describe their condoms as vegan on their own packaging without naming a certifier, which is not the same claim, and is not nothing either. We list both and tell you which is which rather than flattening them into one label.
One thing worth clearing up, because it trips people constantly. Vegan does not mean latex free. Most vegan condoms are still natural rubber latex, just made without the milk protein, so if you are here because latex gives you a reaction then this is the wrong page and you want the latex free options instead.
Any feature works better once the fit is sorted, so if you're not sure of your size, that's the place to start.

Frequently asked
Why would a condom not be vegan?
Casein, a milk protein, is widely used in latex processing as a softening and curing agent. It is not declared on packaging, so the brand's own statement or a certification is the only signal you get.
Does vegan mean latex free?
No, and this is the most common mix up. Most vegan condoms are still natural rubber latex. If you have a latex allergy you need the latex free options, not these.
Which vegan condoms are actually certified?
Glyde and Moments both state certification by the Vegan Society, Glyde since 2006. Jonny and Frenchie state vegan formulations on their own packaging without naming a certifier, which we list but do not call certified.
Are vegan condoms as strong?
Yes. They pass the same Australian burst and strength testing as any other condom, so the plant based softener changes nothing about how well they work.
